AIMS & OBJECTIVES
The general mission of the Association is the enhancement of
engineering education throughout Africa.
The objectives of the Association include: - Providing
a mutual support network of engineering educators, through the
established African Regional Conference on Engineering Education
(ARCEE).
- Improving teaching and learning in educational institutions, through workshops for engineering educators.
- Improving
the standards of engineering education in institutions in Africa,
through a peer-review mechanism and accreditation of degrees.
- Improving government support for engineering education, including the provision of adequate infrastructure and staffing.
- Improving government support for engineering education, including the provision of adequate infrastructure and staffing.
- Encouraging
involvement of the African diaspora in the development of engineering
education in Africa, through exchange programmes.
- Enhancing
the development of the next generation of engineering educators,
through the establishment of regional Postgraduate Training Centres.
- Promoting
exchange of students (both undergraduate and postgraduate) across the
continent through removal of international fee barriers.
- Strengthening
collaboration with other institutions with similar objectives, such as
ANSTI, DCTA, the AU, NEPAD, UICEE, the WFEO CCB, and UNESCO.
- Promotion of technological careers for women, so as to increase the proportion of women in the engineering workforce.
- Sourcing and directing funds towards achieving excellence in engineering education in Africa.
- Collaborating with like minded international organisations.
